Controls Engineer (HIL Integration & Validation)
Assignment Duration: 1 year (extension subject to performance and fit)
Job Description
The successful candidate will be on the forefront of realistic automotive mechatronic simulation environments which allows for faster development cycles for all EV and PHEV vehicles with a focus on brake and propulsion thermal management systems. The candidate will be able to integrate HIL simulation models with real ECUs and vehicle hardware based on closed loop simulation requirements. In addition, the candidate shall have strong end-to-end mechatronic integration and trouble shooting skills related to CAN, ethernet, electrical, automotive vehicle hardware in an engineering lab environment. There will be heavy emphasis on being able to keep up to speed on new and evolving technology.
Key Responsibilities
o Integration and validation of dynamic simulation models for HIL real-time closed loop simulation framework.
o Design, develop and integrate serial data communication models (CAN, LIN and Ethernet) based on simulation architecture.
o Working collaboratively with test apparatus users, HIL model development engineers, ECU software development engineers, and hardware design-release engineers to understand requirements and conduct end-to-end root cause analysis and troubleshooting on wide variety of mechatronic software, hardware, and electrical type issues under tight timelines.
o Troubleshoot HIL bench issues related to CAN, Ethernet and LIN protocols.
o Ability to automate simple repetitive tasks on the bench using Python or any other programming language.
o Improving robustness and useability of the HIL benches.
o Writing internal documentation for new HIL benches and existing simulation tools and assets.
o Plan, communicate and co-ordinate HIL model rollout to support application and features as requested by bench users.
o Ensure deliverables are complete as per milestones with excellence.
o Identify and implement areas of efficiency of process and the product when scaling up.
Qualifications
o Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
o 2+ years of working experience with dSPACE HIL bench platforms.
o 2+ years of working experience with Matlab/Simulink in a context of real time simulation platforms.
oExperience with automotive embedded control software integration, testing, and ETAS INCA software test tools.
o Familiarity with testing tools such as Lauterbach, VSpy or CANoe.
o Knowledge of programming languages like Python, C/C++ or other scripting languages.
o Knowledge of Controls Theory & Modelling.
o Solid understanding of automotive systems, including vehicle dynamics, propulsion systems, and embedded controls.
o Experience working with Scrum/Agile software development process and tools.
o Results driven individual with high levels of initiative, urgency and pro-activity.
