Job Title: Controls Engineer – Manufacturing Automation (Contract to Hire)

Client: Tesla

Location: Onsite – Fremont, California or Reno, Nevada (travel between sites required)

Duration: 4–6 Months (Contract to Hire)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Controls Engineer to support manufacturing automation initiatives, with a strong focus on equipment commissioning and production line readiness. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in PLC programming, system debugging, and bringing automated equipment online in a fast-paced production environment.

This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery, system reliability, and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Commission and debug automated manufacturing equipment and production lines

Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs using Siemens or Rockwell platforms

Diagnose and resolve issues related to electrical systems, sensors, actuators, and I/O

Support integration and commissioning of robotic systems and vision systems

Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and production teams to meet project deadlines

Perform system validation, testing, and performance tuning

Document changes, issues, and solutions during commissioning phases

Provide on-site support and training to production and maintenance teams

Required Qualifications

Hands-on experience with PLC programming and commissioning

Proficiency in Siemens (TIA Portal) or Rockwell (Studio 5000)

Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in a manufacturing environment

Background in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent experience)

Ability to work onsite and travel between Fremont and Reno as needed

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with robot programming (e.g., Fanuc)

Experience with vision systems (e.g., Keyence 2D/3D)

Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing environments

Previous experience in automotive or automation industries
