Job Summary
Equinix Operations Data Infrastructure Monitoring (ODIM), an organization within Global Operation Excellence at Equinix. ODIM provides support and maintenance for multiple monitoring platforms within the business. ODIM engineers will investigate and resolve data quality issues in the system, provide support to internal users and projects using the information contained in the system and work within the system to identify energy efficiency improvement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Respond to internal customer requests for information arising from their use of IBX SmartView.
- Interact with the operation engineers at each IBX location to be cognizant of maintenance and operations which may cause unusual operating conditions.
- Verify the accuracy of data presented in IBX SmartView and supporting systems.
- Troubleshoot all elements of the controls system, including field devices, controllers, network components and software systems as necessary to resolve data quality issues.
- Provide support for equipment additions, changes and deletions within the system.
- Assist in the design of new features which improve usability of Smart View.
- Maintain and develop training materials for internal and external users.
- Provide training to internal and external users.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the IBX SmartView system.
- Utilize Smartview to identify operational efficiency improvement opportunities and work with the regional and IBX engineering teams to implement solutions to opportunities identified.
- Update the system configuration in response to infrastructure equipment additions, moves, changes or deletions.
- Utilizes safe working practices at an expert level (e.g. can apply procedure for lockout/tagout, can explain MSDS, etc.)
- Evaluates and assures the safe working practices of others. Interacts with other engineering disciplines

- Consistently solves complex, cross-functional issues requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve
- Makes recommendations for system level enhancements to eliminate potential problems
- Tests suitability of components for deployments
Internal/External Contact
- Contributes to mentoring junior team members
- Consults with internal and external project team members
- Expert level communication to include cross functional SOP development and relevant technical writing
- Communicates effectively with both internal teams and Equinix customers

- Has expert controls system knowledge

- Extensive knowledge of multiple facets of controls engineering

Training
- Acquires knowledge by expanding experience with systems, vendor training, participation in industry groups or meetings and shadowing others
- Is subject matter expert with many systems and trains others inside and outside of the group
Qualifications
- Demonstratable experience in control system design, operations, maintenance, and project planning with emphasis & special focus on controls
- Capable of reviewing power reports and provide guidance on data correction.
- Advanced building management system (BMS) or energy management system (EMS) operation skills.
- Must understand the electrical topologies commonly found in data centers.
- Must be able to interpret system control strategies and architecture using Sequence of Operation (SOO) and P&ID drawings, SAMA diagrams or equivalent.
- Must have excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of the BACnet, Modbus and OPC communications protocols including protocol definition, implementation strategies and troubleshooting as well as experience with data collection and conversion software such as Kepware, Matricon, TopView, OSISoft Pi is beneficial.
- Experience identifying and implementing operational efficiency improvement initiatives is desired.
- Personnel may be required to travel if needed.

United States - Ashburn Office AEO : 130,000 - 194,000 USD / Annual
United States - Frisco Office DAF : 118,000 - 176,000 USD / Annual
United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 118,000 - 176,000 USD / Annual
