To help our clients navigate an increasingly complex and challenging risk and compliance landscape, we are strengthening our dedicated global team of Analysts. As part of this, we seek applications from ambitious talent eager to learn and develop in the role of Counterparty Risk Graduate Analyst.

Role Profile

As a Counterparty Risk Graduate Analyst, you will join a team of experienced due diligence experts and learn to deliver impartial, high-quality counterparty risk assessments and targeted research for customers in the maritime industry. You will play a key role in enhancing our counterparty risk report database with actionable insight, and support customer engagement as a subject matter expert. This role involves in-depth qualitative and quantitative research/analysis, with a high degree of stakeholder interaction, and offers the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of our editorial content into data-driven formats.

Over the course of six months, successful candidates will be taken through a comprehensive training programme with the support of a dedicated Training Manager, a global team of 40+ experienced Analysts, and fellow Graduate recruits. The Counterparty Risk Graduate Analyst role is designed to help appointees build expertise in the fundamentals of performing in-depth commercial due diligence, researching, assessing and reporting on credit and counterparty risk in the maritime, energy, and commodity trading sectors. If you complete the programme to the required standard the role will be made permanent.

You are expected to build a strong network of contacts in the industry, and to develop your expertise on counterparty risk in your geographical region, and across maritime markets, improving our customer experience and supporting revenue growth. Strong critical reasoning , a curious and highly analytical mindset, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are integral to effectiveness in this role.

This is a full-time permanent role reporting to the Counterparty Risk Manager in Singapore, and is a balanced working model between home and in our modern and centrally located Singapore office with an excellent and a wide variety of services and transport links situated nearby.

Key Responsibilities:

Research & Analysis

  • Conduct in-depth online research on registered corporate entities, utilising various sources including corporate registries, industry databases, and trade press, to uncover ownership structures and financial standing evaluate company risk profiles.
  • Plan and conduct interviews with the management/representatives of subject entities and well-placed, reliable, and insightful market sources, to gather qualitative insights.
  • Utilise proprietary and third-party tools and own critical reasoning to determine and assign in-house counterparty risk ratings and credit recommendations, aligned with business exposure contexts.

Reporting & Customer delivery

  • Produce clear, structured reports covering subject entity ownership, operations, financials, market and risk assessments that support customer decision-making on near-term business transactions, delivered to agreed deadlines and report output.
  • Maintain high-quality output aligned to our data quality and editorial standards.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build a network of contacts with market sources to maintain knowledge and a proactive approach to support due diligence needs.
  • Develop as a regional subject matter expert, supporting customer inquiries and networking events.
  • Represent the counterparty operations team in cross-functional collaborations and conferences.

Team Support & Development

  • Share information with peers, such as market commentary and analysis, and other in-house data teams that research company and vessel ownership structures, to optimise the quality of data
  • Stay abreast of market news and new Lloyd’s List Intelligence product developments and functionality and continually develop your understanding of the maritime industry

What we are looking for:

Essential

  • Minimum 2.1 BA or BSc degree from a leading academic institution (as a recent graduate or in the process of graduating)
