Credit Analyst Role Overview
The Credit Analyst plays a key role in achieving the goals of Seamen’s Bank's Commercial Loan Department, focusing on revenue and portfolio growth, asset quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
:
Collaborate with commercial lenders to assess and manage credit risk in the loan portfolio by analyzing financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports.
:
Prepare comprehensive credit memoranda for new loans, renewals, modifications, and extensions, and identify any loan policy exceptions along with mitigating factors.
:
Ensure accurate risk ratings for borrowers by consulting with the Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending.
:
Work with loan officers to gather necessary financial information, maintain tracking systems for financial data and loan covenants, and request updates from borrowers.
:
Assist in the administration of the commercial loan portfolio and contribute to in-house real estate evaluations.
:
Stay informed about bank credit policies, state laws, and lending regulations relevant to commercial loans.
Qualifications
:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 18 credit hours in accounting or finance.
: 2-4 years in banking or related credit/accounting roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong ability to read and interpret financial data, professional journals, and legal regulations.
