Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Credit Risk Analyst to join their portfolio management team. This hybrid role, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan , will involve analyzing the creditworthiness of clients, monitoring loan portfolios, and developing strategies to mitigate credit risk. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of financial statements, and experience with credit analysis methodologies. You will work closely with lending officers and other stakeholders to ensure the health and stability of the company's credit exposure.
Key responsibilities include:
Analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to assess the credit risk of individual borrowers and counterparties. Monitoring and analyzing credit exposure within assigned loan portfolios, identifying trends and potential risks. Developing and implementing credit risk management strategies and policies. Preparing detailed credit memorandums and recommendations for loan approvals, renewals, and modifications. Conducting industry and economic analysis to understand factors impacting credit risk. Assisting in the development and maintenance of credit scoring models and risk rating systems. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal credit policies. Collaborating with relationship managers and loan officers to manage existing credit facilities. Performing stress testing and scenario analysis on the credit portfolio. Reporting on portfolio performance and risk metrics to senior management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in credit analysis, risk management, or a related banking role. Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, ratio analysis, and cash flow assessment. Familiarity with various credit products and lending structures. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial modeling. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex risk issues clearly. Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to credit risk is a plus. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid team environment. Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
