Job Description

Role overview:

Hands-on role leading end-to-end credit assessment and portfolio risk for mortgage, property-owner, unsecured personal and SME lending. Responsible for borrower and collateral grading, collateral valuation governance, loan approval workflow, NPL monitoring and provisioning recommendations. Regular liaison with frontline sales, collections, legal, valuers and senior management; site visits to branches and applicants as required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assess credit applications per Product & Loan Origination Guidelines; prepare clear written recommendations for approvals, rejections and escalations.
  • Apply borrower grading and collateral grading.
  • Exercise delegated approval; approve unsecured within prescribed limits per Approval Authority Matrix.
  • Enforce valuation governance.
  • Verify KYC, TU/TE/Infolink, income proof, land search, valuations and loan documents before drawdown; ensure CCTV during drawdown and timely post-drawdown filing.
  • Monitor portfolio: NPL ageing, provisioning adequacy, concentration risk, monthly risk reporting and quarterly NPL deep-dives.
  • Support collections: prepare document packs for demand letters/writs, advise on OCA referrals and recovery/write-off recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with HK Money Lenders Ordinance (Cap.163), PDPO and internal governance/policies.

Qualifications & skills:

  • Minimum 5 years’ Hong Kong experience in credit assessment, underwriting or risk management (banks, licensed money lenders, finance companies).
  • Proven experience with secured mortgage lending, property owner loans, unsecured personal and SME credit.
  • Strong knowledge of property valuation methods, LTV/DSR calculations, land registry/title deed procedures.
  • Proficient reading TransUnion, TE and Infolink reports.
  • Degree in Finance/Accounting/Risk/Business or related. Professional qualifications (CFA/FRM) and scorecard modelling experience preferred.
  • Fluent English and Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin). Strong written reporting skills.
  • Supervisory experience desirable; high attention to detail, decisiveness and integrity.
