Role Overview

Air8 Finance is seeking a Credit Risk Underwriter with strong experience in dealing with SME clients to join our Singapore team. This role will focus on assessing credit applications, reviewing financial performance, and making sound underwriting recommendations for SME borrowers. We welcome candidates with relevant experience from commercial banking, business banking, fintech lenders, or other SME-focused financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct end-to-end credit assessments for SME clients, including review of financial statements, cash flow, business performance, and repayment capacity.
  • Evaluate credit applications and recommend appropriate credit limits, terms, and risk mitigants.
  • Structure financing solutions that balance commercial objectives with credit risk appetite.
  • Prepare clear and concise credit memos and present recommendations to internal stakeholders or credit committees.
  • Monitor existing SME accounts for portfolio quality, early warning signs, and emerging credit risks.
  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, Legal, and other internal teams to support efficient deal execution.
  • Ensure underwriting decisions and documentation comply with internal policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of underwriting processes, credit policies, and risk frameworks.
  • Support portfolio reviews, ad hoc analysis, and other risk-related projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in credit underwriting, credit analysis, or risk assessment.
  • Strong experience in dealing with SME clients.
  • Experience gained in commercial banking, business banking, fintech lending, or similar SME lending environments is highly preferred.
  • Solid financial statement analysis skills, including ability to assess profitability, leverage, liquidity, and cash flow.
  • Good understanding of SME lending products and structures, such as working capital facilities, term loans, trade finance, invoice financing, or asset-backed financing.
  • Strong credit judgment, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple cases efficiently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese.
