Job Description:
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the actual implementation of a data governance program (framework, lineage, ontologies, etc), data quality management, data policy development and a track record of developing and implementing comprehensive data governance strategies across complex organizations. This role is critical in ensuring data assets are managed effectively and with integrity, quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of enterprise-wide governance data policies, standards, and procedures.
- Implement and manage data lineage, data lifecycle, ETL processes, and metadata management practices to enhance data traceability and transparency.
- Ensure compliance with data security, protection, privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), industry standards (e.g., FedRamp, NIST or ISO 270001), and/or zero-trust architecture.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to identify data issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Design and oversee data quality metrics and KPIs to continuously monitor and improve data quality.
- Evaluate, implement, and manage data governance tools and technologies to support governance activities.
- Stay up to date with emerging data governance trends and technologies.
- Conduct regular data audits and risk assessments.
- Develop and deliver data governance training programs to educate staff on data governance best practices.
- Identify and mitigate data governance risks, ensuring the protection of sensitive data.
Required Skills:
- 5 or more years of experience in data governance, data quality management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, principles, and best practices.
- Understanding of data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in data governance or data management (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional).
- Experience establishing and leveraging data governance technology, such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Atlan, Manta, etc.
- Data Engineering
