The Role 

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Center Operations Technician to support the operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure within a mission-critical data center environment in Lappeenranta, Finland. The successful candidate will have a strong electrical background and experience working with power distribution systems, industrial maintenance, or critical facilities operations.

This role is responsible for ensuring maximum uptime, reliability, and safety of data center electrical and mechanical systems while supporting 24/7 operations.

Key Responsibilities

Critical Infrastructure Operations

Operate and maintain critical electrical systems including:

UPS systems

Medium- and low-voltage switchgear

Transformers

Backup generators

ATS/STS equipment

Battery systems

Power distribution units (PDUs)

Monitor facility systems using BMS/EPMS platforms.

Perform routine inspections and operational checks of critical infrastructure.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems.

Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures and alarms.

Support emergency response and incident recovery activities.

Coordinate with vendors and contractors during maintenance activities.

Safety & Compliance

Follow Finnish electrical safety regulations and company safety procedures.

Support lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe switching operations.

Maintain compliance with SFS 6002, occupational safety requirements, and site policies.

Ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented.

Operational Support

Participate in 24/7 shift operations, including nights and weekends.

Maintain accurate logs, reports, and maintenance records.

Assist with commissioning and testing of new equipment and infrastructure upgrades.

Support continuous improvement initiatives for operational efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

Required

Vocational qualification, diploma, or degree in:

Electrical Engineering

Industrial Maintenance

Automation Technology

Power Systems

Experience working with electrical infrastructure or industrial systems.

Knowledge of:

Power distribution systems

Electrical troubleshooting

Preventive maintenance practices

Ability to read electrical schematics and single-line diagrams.

Good English communication skills.

Preferred

Data center or mission-critical facility experience.

SFS 6002 Electrical Safety certification.

Experience with medium-voltage systems.

Knowledge of HVAC/cooling infrastructure.

Experience using CMMS, BMS, or EPMS systems.

Finnish language skills are an advantage.
