Job Description

Join Our Team at Eaton: Empowering Tomorrow, Today!

Eaton has been a key player in the Middle East for 40 years. In July 2024, we announced the construction of a new sustainable campus in Dubai, which will bring together our commercial, manufacturing, and support functions, providing room for future growth.

About Us:

Eaton is a power management company where we provide energy-efficient solutions that help our customers effectively manage electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power more efficiently, safely and sustainably. Eaton is dedicated to improving the quality of life and the environment through the use of power management technology and services. Eaton has approximately 96,000 employees and sells products to customers in more than 175 countries.

Primary Function Description:

Eaton's Global Data Center Segment is focused on helping data centers realize real business benefits today while optimizing their operations for the future. With the rise of big data, edge computing and the cloud, data centers are under pressure to be more high-performing, sustainable and cost-effective than ever, without compromising resilience or security. At the same time, new opportunities and revenue streams require faster speed-to-market. With our digital intelligence, world-class cyber-secure products and services, reliable, compatible solutions and engineering expertise, we help data centers realize real business benefits today while optimizing their operations for the future.

As part of our continued investment in next generation data center technologies, Eaton is expanding its capabilities to support advanced, future ready architectures across both white space (IT halls) and grey space (electrical and mechanical infrastructure).

Within this segment, Eaton has an opening for a Data Center Solutions Engineer – Grey Space. This position plays a critical role in defining, shaping, and delivering advanced data center architectures where standard reference designs may not yet exist. This role sits at the intersection of innovation, applied engineering, and customer engagement. It will be supporting hyperscale, co-location, and EPC partners from early concept through solution definition.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DIMENSIONS:

Customer Solutions & Concept Design

  • Engage in future data center development, design and architecture to include coordination with R&D teams both internally and customer facing.
  • Engage with customers on early-stage data center opportunities, including projects without established standards or reference architectures.
  • Develop conceptual and system level solutions covering grey space environments.
  • Translate customer operational, resiliency, sustainability, and scalability goals into robust electrical architectures.
  • Support technical discussions during pre-sales, design development, and early project phases.

System Architecture & Engineering Expertise

  • Define advanced data center electrical architectures, including utility interconnection, MV/LV distribution, UPS topologies, energy storage, and IT power delivery.
  • Ensure alignment between white space power requirements and upstream grey space infrastructure.
  • Perform detailed technical analyses to evaluate system performance, reliability, efficiency, and maintainability.
  • Provide technical recommendations to optimize footprint, power coordination, and system integration.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Eaton Centers of Excellence (COEs), Global Product Lines (GPLs), and Business Units (BUs) to align customer solutions with Eaton’s technology roadmap.
  • Collaborate with Design & Bid, engineering, operations, and sales teams to ensure solutions are technically sound and commercially viable.
  • Facilitate technical workshops with customers, consultants, and internal stakeholders to co create solutions.

Standards, Compliance & Innovation

  • Ensure solutions comply with applicable IEC, EU requirements, and local building codes by working with authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Contribute to the development of Eaton’s global reference architectures, design frameworks, and best practices for next generation data centers.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving data center standards to drive continuous innovation.

Project & Lifecycle Support

  • Provide technical support during project execution, including site reviews, engineering evaluations, and electrical audits as required.
  • Support early Eaton system approvals by vendors (AVL) for programmatic or large-scale deployments.
  • Assist field engineers during commissioning and startup activities when needed.

POSITION CRITERIA:

  • Strong understanding of power system architectures, redundancy concepts, and integration between electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with UPS systems, MV/LV distribution, energy storage, and critical power infrastructure.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and conceptual design workshops with customers.
