Data Developer / Business Intelligence (6-month contract)
Location: Toronto, ON
Hourly Rate: $80 – $90 CAD/hour (dependent on experience)
Contract Duration: 6 months
What you will achieve in this role
- Support the completion and refinement of an internally developed financial data platform used to manage vendor expenses and allocation processes.
- Review and enhance the existing SQL data structure, including tables, views, and stored procedures, to improve reporting performance and accuracy.
- Implement and manage integrations between financial expense systems and the internal data environment through APIs or automated batch processes.
- Ensure expense and vendor-related data is accurately mapped, validated, and maintained for reporting and analytics.
- Develop and support executive-level dashboards and reporting datasets using business intelligence tools.
- Design data models and calculated metrics to track key financial indicators such as spending trends and vendor cost analysis.
- Collaborate with finance and business stakeholders to translate reporting needs into scalable data solutions.
- Document data structures, integrations, and technical processes to ensure long-term maintainability of the reporting environment.
What you must bring to this role
- 3–5+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Data Developer, or Business Intelligence role.
- Advanced SQL expertise including complex queries, data transformations, and performance optimization.
- Strong experience with Power BI or similar BI tools, including semantic modeling and advanced calculations.
- Experience integrating third-party or enterprise systems using APIs or automated data ingestion processes.
- Exposure to financial or expense management systems and financial data environments.
- Ability to work independently within partially developed systems and evolving project environments.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities in a deadline-driven setting.
- Experience in financial services, vendor management systems, or market data platforms is considered an asset.
