The Data Engineer II is a seasoned individual contributor who independently designs, builds, and supports scalable, reliable data solutions with limited oversight. This role is responsible for managing moderately complex data pipelines and datasets, ensuring high data quality and analytical integrity, and proactively identifying and resolving issues across data and reporting systems while adhering to established architectural standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, enhance, and maintain moderately complex data pipelines, datasets, and system integrations.
- Gather and interpret business and technical requirements, translating them into accurate, sustainable data solutions.
- Improve and optimize data models, queries, and transformations to maximize performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Validate data thoroughly to ensure accuracy and readiness prior to deployment and downstream reporting use.
- Independently diagnose and resolve data and reporting issues from source to consumption.
- Consistently follow development standards, architectural guidelines, and coding best practices.
- Contribute to the evolution of team processes, documentation, and technical standards.
- Partner cross-functionally to deliver data and reporting solutions that support business needs.
- Participate in peer reviews, offering thoughtful and actionable feedback.
- Succeed in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while effectively managing multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases.
- Solid experience with ETL development and data integration patterns.
- Working knowledge of dimensional modeling and reporting dependencies.
- Hands‑on experience developing or supporting enterprise analytics solutions, including data pipelines, centralized data platforms, and semantic models.
- Strong understanding of business intelligence concepts such as dataset design, data modeling, refresh behavior, and report dependencies.
- Experience supporting and maintaining enterprise reporting solutions in a production environment.
- Familiarity with DevOps concepts and version control.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent education and experience.
3–6 years of relevant experience.
