About the job you're considering
The Snowflake Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and efficient data solutions on the Snowflake Data Cloud. This role is key in transforming raw data into actionable insights, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Your role
- Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and data stores within the Snowflake platform.
- Build and manage ETL/ELT workflows and data integration processes, leveraging both Snowflake's native capabilities and relevant ETL tools (e.g., Informatica IICS, Apache Airflow).
- Optimize Snowflake performance through query tuning, warehousing sizing, data re-clustering, and other best practices to ensure scalability and reliability.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient data solutions.
- Implement and enforce data governance policies, security measures (e.g., data masking, row-level security), and quality checks to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Handle various data formats, including structured and semi-structured data (e.g., JSON, XML), and integrate Snowflake with diverse data sources and third-party tools.
- Document technical specifications, data mappings, and process flows to support data governance and compliance efforts.
- Stay current with Snowflake updates, industry best practices, and new data technologies to continuously improve data solutions.
- Troubleshoot data-related issues, identify bottlenecks, and resolve performance problems within Snowflake data pipelines and warehouses.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives) to ensure efficient delivery and iteration of solutions.
Skills and experience
- 5 years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing experience in Snowflake.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and supporting data warehousing and business intelligence solutions on Snowflake.
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including its architecture, features (e.g., Snowpipe, stored procedures, streams, tasks), and SnowSQL proficiency.
- Expertise in SQL for writing and optimizing complex queries, and experience with relational and non-relational databases.
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data modeling concepts (star/snowflake schemas, normalization).
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and their integration with Snowflake is a plus.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python or Bash for automation and data manipulation tasks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts and collaborate with stakeholders.

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is: $140,000 - $170,000
