Data Engineer Sr.
Provide locations: Dallas, TX
Length of Assignment: 1 year
ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate the collection, normalization and analysis of datasets across multiple data platforms.
- Assist in designing and building data service infrastructure across multiple data platforms.
- Work with analytics teams to ensure functionality in data systems.
- Participate in the development of and implementation of data solutions for multiple applications to ensure scalability and maintainability.
- Design and implement process improvements including automation of processes and redesign of data infrastructure.
- Owns significant components of the database platform (specific schemas/domains, key performance areas, or HA/DR operational ownership) with minimal guidance.
- Leads technical workstreams (e.g., partitioning rollout, performance remediation, operational readiness) and drives them to closure.
- Improves runbooks/automation; contributes to production incident response and prevention.
MUST HAVE SKILLS:
- Strong hands-on experience designing and operating high-volume, enterprise OLTP databases supporting mission-critical transactions.
- Advanced SQL and performance tuning experience
- MySQL
- Oracle
- Experience with operational best practices: backup/restore validation, patch planning, monitoring/alerting, incident response, and runbooks.
- Proven ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and security with clear, structured communication.
FLEX SKILLS:
- Exadata experience
- Data Guard experience (HA/DR, role transitions, validation of primary/standby states).
- GoldenGate experience (replication design/operations).
- Understanding of enterprise MySQL deployment/replication patterns (e.g., primary/replica cross-site patterns). Ref: #404-IT Pittsburgh
