CBIZ is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Data Quality Engineer to join our Business Intelligence & Data Insights team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency and reliability of enterprise data used for reporting, analytics and decision making.
This role will focus on Data validation, quality control, monitoring and automation while partnering with the business to identify and resolve data issues. This position requires hands-on experience with Alteryx, SQL, and Power BI, as well as strong analytical and communication skills.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
- Perform data quality validation and testing for reporting, dashboards and datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness and reliability.
- Validate data consistency between systems, ensuring no duplication, misalignment or data integrity issues
- Monitor and troubleshoot data refreshes, identifying, investigating, and resolving data anomalies, inconsistencies, or errors. Support light dashboarding and ad hoc data pulls in Power BI and SQL to assist validation efforts and stakeholder inquiries
- Leverage Power BI and Power Query to analyze data models, understand data relationships and validate backend logic
- Use Power Automate to support workflow automation related to data validation, monitoring and alerts
- Collaborate with business units, finance, audit, and IT to understand data needs and provide actionable insights.
- Clean, transform, and prepare large data sets to support business analysis, decision-making, and reporting requirements.
- Document data sources, data flows, and analytical methodologies to ensure transparency and repeatability.
- Present analysis findings and recommendations to stakeholders in clear, understandable terms.
- Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies relevant to data analysis and business intelligence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of professional experience in a data analytics or business intelligence role, preferably in a large or publicly traded organization.
- Demonstrated expertise performing data quality validation and testing to ensure data accuracy, completeness and integrity across SQL queries, Power BI datasets and reporting outputs
- Advanced SQL skills for querying, joining, and manipulating large datasets.
- Hands on experience with Power BI and Power Automate to support data validation and monitoring
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and accuracy.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Experience with other BI or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, SmartSheet) is a plus.
- Knowledge of the accounting and professional services industry is a plus.
