This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite in La Jolla and remote.

DESCRIPTION

The Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) is an NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) institution that provides the infrastructure to support high-quality and innovative translational research. ACTRI's vision is to translate scientific discoveries into improved health by delivering education, training, and infrastructure for clinical research in the San Diego area and beyond. Mike Hogarth, M.D. and Davey Smith M.D. are the principal investigators on ACTRI’s CTSA grant. The ACTRI functions under the direction of Dr. Smith, M.D., Director and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Clinical and Translational Research at UC San Diego

Senior level clinical data analyst specializing in Epic and clinical informatics data models for advanced research services. Independently executes complex clinical data extraction and analysis plans in collaboration with advanced research teams and Health Sciences leadership. Architect sophisticated data management processes including ETL/SQL workflows utilizing industry best practices and innovative development techniques and functional logic for multivariate data of translational research patient cohorts through ICD/CPT terminologies and ontology patterns. Manage full lifecycle of research requests and projects, maintain program libraries and technical standard operations procedures to align with policies. Applies skills as a senior data and clinical applications professional with consideration for industry standards and relevant laws and local policies for data systems management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Nine years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five years of related experience/training.
  • Ability to prepare complex data models unassisted. Advanced training in Epic and/or other major medical records systems with complex multivariate schemas.
  • Ability to understand and model complex knowledge-intensive processes such as scholarly and research processes.
  • Experience in data integration and the specification of data services. Ability to apply complex data analysis logic routines to meet needs of study protocols.
  • Proven modeling and information design skills.
  • Working experience in regulated enterprise computing environment for meeting compliance (HIPAA, HITECH, FERPA, etc.).
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Familiarity with highly complex logical data design and data mapping or data conversion.
  • Advanced experience working with T-SQL or other equivalent SQL database query language and tools for development, ETL processes, schema analysis/design, visualization and reporting (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, SAS, CrystalReports).
  • Familiarity with highly complex data quality and governance issues and requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant rules and regulations.
