Job Description

Private Equity VP1 or Advanced Senior Associate - San Francisco Bay area

About the Role

The VP or Advanced Senior Associate will join a San Francisco area based private equity firm focused on lower middle-market investing.

This is a rapidly growing lower-middle-market private equity firm investing in essential businesses within the modern industrial economy. The firm differentiates itself through a deeply hands-on, partnership-driven approach—working closely with management teams from day one to drive operational improvement and sustainable growth. Backed by a successful debut fund and preparing to raise its second fund in Q2, the platform is gaining momentum and selectively expanding its investment team.

The firm offers an entrepreneurial, high-performance culture with meaningful exposure across the full investment lifecycle, strong mentorship from experienced investors and operators, and clear opportunities for growth as the platform scales.

Firm's Investment Strategy:

  • Target: $5-35M EBITDA
  • EV: $50-30M per investment

Job Description:

The VP or Advanced Senior Associate will support the firm’s investment professionals in investment sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management functions of the firm. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Investment Evaluation: Support all aspects of sourcing, screening, diligence, and ongoing management of investment opportunities
  • Market & Industry Research: Analyze target industries, end markets, and competitive landscapes to inform investment theses
  • Financial Modeling & Analysis: Build and refine detailed financial models; perform valuation and scenario analyses to support investment decisions
  • Transaction Execution: Assist in structuring transactions, managing diligence workflows, preparing investment committee materials, and supporting negotiations and close
  • Portfolio Support: Partner with portfolio company leadership on value-creation initiatives, including growth strategy, operational analysis, and performance improvement efforts

Professional Experience & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in investment banking and/or private equity; middle-market buyout experience preferred
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills, with a deep understanding of financial statements, diligence processes, and transaction execution
  • Comfortable operating in lean, fast-paced environments and taking ownership amid ambiguity
  • Collaborative, high-integrity team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to clearly articulate complex ideas to investors, executives, and advisors
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with a commitment to producing high-quality work and a “roll-up-your-sleeves” mindset
  • Genuinely interested in building and scaling businesses, not just executing transactions
  • Exposure to industrial, manufacturing, services, or related sectors is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field preferred); MBA a plus but not required
