Director of AI & Machine Learning (Hybrid | Direct Hire)

Location: Flower Mound, TX (Hybrid - must reside in DFW area)

Compensation: Target salary up to $250,000

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Director of AI & Machine Learning to lead the strategy, architecture, and delivery of enterprise AI and intelligent automation initiatives. This role will build and scale a high-performing team while driving the development of machine learning, generative AI, and automation solutions across a modern data platform.

This is a working leadership role-ideal for someone who can operate at both the strategic and technical level, with deep expertise in AI integrations and platforms like Databricks.

Key Responsibilities

AI Strategy & Architecture

  • Define and execute enterprise AI and automation strategy
  • Design scalable AI architectures leveraging modern data platforms
  • Establish standards for machine learning, generative AI, and agent-based systems
  • Identify high-impact AI use cases that drive business value

Team Leadership & Delivery

  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of AI engineers and automation developers
  • Establish engineering best practices across AI/ML and automation initiatives
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of AI solutions from concept to deployment

Generative AI & Advanced Architectures

  • Lead development of generative AI and multi-agent systems
  • Implement Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and enterprise AI solutions
  • Drive adoption of conversational AI and modern AI platforms

Automation & RPA

  • Define and lead enterprise automation strategy
  • Identify and prioritize automation opportunities across business functions
  • Integrate AI-driven decisioning into automation workflows

Governance & Responsible AI

  • Establish AI governance, security, and compliance frameworks
  • Implement model evaluation, monitoring, and lifecycle management practices
  • Ensure transparency and auditability of AI-driven decisions

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with data, analytics, and business teams to operationalize AI
  • Translate business challenges into scalable AI-driven solutions
  • Communicate technical strategy to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in AI, machine learning, or related technical fields
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams
  • Proven experience building and deploying enterprise AI solutions
  • Strong expertise in AI/ML architecture, generative AI, and automation
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and AI platform integrations
  • Experience designing scalable, production-grade AI systems
  • Strong communication and leadership capabilities

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft AI ecosystem (Copilot, Power Platform, etc.)
  • Background in enterprise data platforms and large-scale environments
  • Experience with multi-agent systems or advanced AI orchestration
  • Exposure to automation tools and RPA platforms
  • Experience integrating AI with enterprise applications (ERP, supply chain, etc.)
