Job Description
The Analytics, Performance & Management Unit (APM) within the Executive Division at the New York City Department of Transportation seeks to hire a Director of Data Science and Governance. Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner of APM, this role will lead the agency’s data science and advanced analytics portfolio while standing up and operationalizing a comprehensive data governance framework, aimed at increasing data discoverability, accessibility, quality, traceability and security.
This position sits at the intersection of analytics, technology, and policy, and will play a central role in advancing DOT’s data-driven decision-making, AI and Machine Learning capabilities, and enterprise data management practices. The Director will be responsible for developing predictive and statistical models, overseeing computer vision applications for infrastructure intelligence, and ensuring that data across the agency is discoverable, reliable, secure, and actionable.

The position will also play a leadership role in advancing DOT’s Data Governance Initiative, including establishing standards, policies, and workflows in coordination with IT, Legal, and program units.
This role will directly supervise two full-time and two part-time data analysts.
