Role Overview
The Director of Manufacturing Engineering will serve as the strategic bridge between New Product Development (NPD) and scalable production. This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a unique blend of "hands-on" technical mastery in component assembly and the executive vision to drive long-term operational sustainability.
You will lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team, ensuring that every product—from initial concept to existing line optimization—is engineered for maximum efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- NPI & Strategic Launch: Lead the transition of new products from design to mass production; partner closely with R&D to ensure seamless product releases and robust New Product Introduction (NPI) workflows.
- Engineering Excellence: Develop and implement advanced manufacturing methods, operation sequences, and fabrication processes for complex parts and sub-assemblies.
- Technical Oversight: Provide deep technical expertise in the assembly and functionality of fluid/gas components, ensuring sound engineering principles are applied to all design-for-manufacturing (DFM) initiatives.
- Cost Management & CAPEX: Drive "Cost Out" strategies for existing product lines; provide expert estimates on manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and authorize recommendations for tooling and equipment.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of Lean and Six Sigma; identify opportunities to eliminate waste, reduce errors, and drive measurable productivity gains across the plant.
- Leadership & Talent Development: Manage and groom a multi-disciplinary engineering team, focusing on succession planning, technical coaching, and building a sustainable high-performance culture.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Chemical Process Engineering (or a related technical discipline).
- Experience: 10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a significant leadership capacity.
- Domain Expertise: Proven track record in a New Product Development (NPD) environment.
- Operational Mindset: Demonstrated success in implementing Continuous Improvement programs and managing complex product lifecycles.
- Leadership: A proven "people first" leader who takes ownership, drives accountability, and excels in cross-functional collaboration.
- Communication: Fluent in English with the ability to influence stakeholders at both the shop-floor and board-room levels.
