Position Overview:
We are looking for a visionary Director of Private Cloud Platform Engineering to lead the modernization of our internal cloud infrastructure. This role involves directing the architecture and delivery of our Private Cloud Orchestration Platform, supporting both containerized and virtual machine workloads across hybrid environments. You will prioritize Developer Experience, ensuring our engineers can deliver reliable software swiftly by implementing best practices and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Governance: Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for our private cloud and developer platform, aligning technology investments with business objectives. Facilitate architecture discussions and engage stakeholders across various teams.
- Developer Experience & Enablement: Create measurable outcomes for Developer Experience, providing streamlined onboarding and efficient service creation through reusable templates and tools.
- Private Cloud & Hybrid Platform Engineering: Spearhead the modernization of our private cloud orchestration, focusing on scalability and security while managing both VM and containerized workloads.
- GitOps, Policy-as-Code, and CI/CD Automation: Promote GitOps practices and standardize CI/CD pipelines while ensuring compliance and efficiency through policy-as-code frameworks.
- Service Mesh & Networking: Champion service mesh adoption, oversee network designs, and implement security measures to meet performance and security requirements.
- Observability & Reliability Engineering (SRE): Enhance observability practices and lead SRE initiatives to define and manage key reliability metrics.
- Security & Supply Chain Hardening: Implement preventive security controls and enforce compliance strategies across the platform.
- Leadership & Team Development: Mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative culture focused on innovation and excellence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field.
- 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and platform engineering with a record of leadership in managing private cloud systems.
- Strong technical experience with platforms such as GKE, Anthos, OpenShift, and OpenStack.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible, and Kubernetes-native technologies.
- 3+ years in leadership roles managing diverse engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information effectively across various audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on strategic innovation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Kubernetes Administrator.
