Job Description

United Public Adjusters is seeking a strategic, executive-level Director of Risk Management to lead enterprise risk strategy, litigation coordination, claims oversight, insurance exposure, and corporate compliance initiatives.

This role is ideal for a sophisticated risk leader who thinks like an owner, operates with sound judgment under pressure, and understands how legal, operational, and financial decisions impact long-term business performance. As a respected leader in public adjusting, United Public Adjusters advocates for policyholders navigating complex property insurance claims and catastrophic losses. We are looking for a high-impact professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-stakes environments and can protect and strengthen the organization through proactive risk leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead companywide risk management, claims oversight, litigation coordination, and compliance strategy
  • Partner closely with General Counsel on litigation, contractual exposure, and risk mitigation initiatives
  • Develop strategies that reduce operational risk costs while protecting company assets and reputation
  • Oversee complex property claims, business interruption exposures, and operational continuity risks
  • Review and negotiate insurance-related agreements
  • Establish and enforce companywide policies, procedures, and compliance standards
  • Lead and mentor internal claims teams with a focus on accountability and operational excellence
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on risk-related business decisions

Qualifications

  • Ideal Background - candidates with experience managing risk for substantial commercial real estate portfolios (exceeding $500M+) are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Extensive experience in risk management, insurance claims, and litigation strategy
  • Strong background in commercial property claims, insurance recovery, and business interruption matters
  • Proven success reducing operational and insurance-related exposure
  • Experience working closely with legal departments and/or General Counsel
  • Expertise in contract negotiation, vendor risk management, and compliance
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Executive presence with the ability to manage complex, time-sensitive situations
