Director, Portfolio Finance

Barings is a leading global investment manager ($320+ billion AUM) focused on differentiated opportunities across public and private fixed income, real estate, and specialist equity markets. Barings operates as a subsidiary of MassMutual and is headquartered in Charlotte, NC with investment professionals across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

The Portfolio Finance team originates proprietary, customized senior secured loans to major asset managers across a wide range of asset classes. These transactions are highly negotiated and often involve complex structuring across multiple global jurisdictions. The team has originated over $40 billion in private investments since 2017 and transitioned to Barings from MassMutual in 2024.

The Director will be a critical full-time member of the Portfolio Finance team and will be responsible for the evaluation, diligence, investment thesis development, and ongoing monitoring of a portfolio of fund finance investments, including private debt. The role requires deep analytical capabilities, structuring expertise, and the ability to manage complex multi-jurisdictional lending transactions.

Responsibilities include sourcing and evaluating new fund finance investment opportunities, conducting due diligence on asset managers and their funds, and monitoring the ongoing performance of the existing portfolio. The Director will work closely with senior team members to support investment decisions for MassMutual's GIA and third-party clients.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in private credit, fund finance, or structured lending, strong financial modeling skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a small, high-performing team. The role is based in Boston (Fan Pier).
