Job Description

The role is responsible for leading and governing a large, enterprise-wide portfolio of projects spanning AI, Data, Risk, Legal, HR, Finance, and IT functions. This position provides strategic oversight to ensure initiatives are aligned with organizational objectives and delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. The role partners closely with senior leadership, establishes portfolio governance and performance metrics, optimizes resource allocation, manages risk, and leads multidisciplinary delivery teams while continuously advancing portfolio management maturity and best practices.

Core Responsibilities:

Provide planning & execution oversight for a sizable portfolio of projects that span business functions such as AI, Data, Risk, Legal, HR, Finance and IT - expectation is that projects in the portfolio are delivered within scope, on-time and on-budget.

Provide oversight to a team of program managers, project managers, scrum masters, and business analysts that are staffed on the projects in the portfolio

In partnership with others, identify and select the projects that fit the organization's vision, mission, values, and objectives.

Define the criteria and metrics for evaluating and prioritizing projects, as well as the boundaries and constraints of the project portfolio.

Communicate the project portfolio decisions and scope to the stakeholders and start planning the execution of the projects in the portfolio with their support.

Establish and enforce the policies, processes, standards, and RACI for managing the project portfolio.

Monitor and control the project portfolio performance, using appropriate tools, status reports, and quality audits.

Track and measure the progress, outcomes, benefits, and risks of each project and the portfolio as a whole - report and escalate any issues or changes that impact the project portfolio.

Engage and communicate with the stakeholders regularly and effectively, and manage their feedback and expectations

Allocate and balance the resources, such as people, time, money, and equipment, across the project portfolio - optimize the value of the portfolio, by maximizing benefits and minimizing costs and risks of each project.

improve the skills, knowledge, and competencies of the team members. Enhance the maturity of the portfolio management practices and processes, by applying best practices, standards, and frameworks.

Lead and motivate the project portfolio teams, by providing continual vision, direction, guidance, and support.

Minimum Required Education & Experience:

Bachelors in business administration, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field

10-15+ years of experience in project, program, or portfolio management

Experience in financial services industry and knowledge of financial technologies

Strong leadership, problem solving, decision making and communication skills

Experience managing large scale enterprise level project or program portfolios aligned with strategic goals & objectives.

Applied knowledge of various portfolio & project management methodologies.

Strong experience with PMO operations, governance frameworks, and resource planning

Demonstrated ability to define KPIs, track portfolio performance, and deliver executive level reporting.

Experience working closely with senior leadership and cross functional stakeholders.

Expertise in portfolio level risk identification and mitigation

People leadership experience, including mentoring and managing project managers, program managers, business analysts, scrum masters.

Proficiency with project and portfolio management tools (e.g., MS Project, Planview, Clarity, Jira, or equivalent)

Optional / Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred PMP, PgMP, PfMP, SAFe, or equivalent certification
