Job Description

We’re seeking an E&I Engineer to support the design, integration, testing, and ongoing development of industrial equipment and process-based systems. This role is ideal for someone who can look beyond individual components and understand how electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and control elements work together in real operating environments.

This individual will own key parts of the electrical and instrumentation scope, help support system evolution as products move through integration and testing, and work closely with internal engineering teams, vendors, and field personnel. The right person will bring a practical mindset, strong documentation habits, and the ability to make sound engineering decisions that improve performance, safety, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and maintain electrical schematics for low-voltage control and higher-voltage power systems
  • Support electrical design for industrial equipment, subsystems, panels, and supporting hardware
  • Select and apply instrumentation and related components such as sensors, actuators, valves, flow devices, and other field equipment
  • Work closely with controls and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure proper integration between electrical hardware, instrumentation, and system operation
  • Coordinate with outside vendors on electrical components, panels, and related technical follow-up
  • Support factory acceptance testing, I/O checks, and validation activities to confirm systems are built and functioning as intended
  • Assist field teams with troubleshooting, issue resolution, and electrical support during testing and deployment phases
  • Help ensure designs and implementations align with applicable codes, standards, and safe operating practices
  • Maintain organized engineering documentation, drawing revisions, and technical records within shared internal systems
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts as systems, processes, and equipment configurations evolve

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical, instrumentation, or application engineering within industrial, manufacturing, or process-based environments
  • Experience creating and maintaining electrical schematics
  • Working knowledge of 24V control systems and 480V power systems
  • Experience with instrumentation and field devices, including sensors, actuators, valves, pumps, or similar components
  • Understanding of how control systems interface with electrical hardware and instrumentation
  • Experience supporting testing, commissioning, FAT activities, or field troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with compliance-driven engineering work, including UL or similar standards
  • Experience working with shared engineering documentation systems, PLM tools, or structured design control processes

Preferred Experience

  • Background in fluid-based, process-driven, or industrial equipment environments
  • Experience coordinating with panel shops, electrical vendors, or equipment suppliers
  • Exposure to PLC programming
  • PE license is a plus, but not required
  • Experience supporting product development, equipment integration, or evolving production systems

What We’re Looking For

  • Practical, hands-on problem solver
  • Strong system-level thinker who understands downstream impact of design decisions
  • Comfortable working across electrical, mechanical, and process-related considerations
  • Able to balance design work, vendor coordination, documentation, and field support
  • Collaborative, organized, and disciplined in how engineering information is maintained and shared

Work Environment

  • Hybrid role with a preference for candidates based in the Phoenix area
  • Regular interaction with manufacturing, testing, and vendor teams
  • Some local and regional travel required to support testing, field work, and project needs
