## Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates who:
- Hold, or are about to obtain, a **PhD degree from a Hong Kong university**
- Have research expertise in **Edge AI** or closely related areas
- Come from a background in **Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering**, or related disciplines
- Are interested in applying advanced AI and embedded intelligence to **medical devices and smart healthcare products**
- Are eligible to apply for the **Hong Kong RTH scheme**

## Key Responsibilities
You will contribute to the development of intelligent on-device systems for next-generation healthcare products, including but not limited to:
- Design and implement **Edge AI algorithms** for deployment on embedded or resource-constrained platforms
- Optimize AI models for **low-power, real-time, and on-device inference**
- Work on the integration of **sensing, signal processing, embedded computing, and AI**
- Collaborate on the development of smart medical devices involving **acoustic sensing, pressure sensing, and physiological data analysis**
- Improve system efficiency in terms of **latency, memory footprint, power consumption, and robustness**
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including **AI, hardware, firmware, product, and biomedical engineering**
- Support technical documentation, intellectual property development, and product translation

## Requirements
- PhD degree obtained from a **Hong Kong university**, or expected graduation soon
- Research background in one or more of the following areas:
- Machine Learning / Deep Learning
- Strong understanding of **AI model deployment on edge devices**
- Experience with **embedded systems**, hardware-software integration, or real-time intelligent systems
- Proficient in **Python** and/or **C/C++**
- Familiar with AI development and deployment frameworks such as **PyTorch, TensorFlow, TensorFlow Lite, ONNX**, or related toolchains
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
- Strong interest in translating research into real-world **medical and healthcare products**
### Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with experience in any of the following will be highly preferred:
- Model compression, pruning, quantization, or acceleration
- MCU / ARM / embedded Linux platforms
- Sensor fusion and signal processing
- Low-power intelligent systems
- Wearable devices, smart sensing systems, or medical devices
- Publications, patents, or technology transfer experience
