The E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) Process Engineer will be responsible for designing new e-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) equipment, improvement for current equipment and processes at Lucid. By working very closely with Manufacturing Operation teams, Logistics, Manufacturing and Product Engineering, New Product Introduction, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) process is properly designed and implemented. You Will:
Process Requirements and Operational Readiness:
Responsible for execution of E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) new launch activities, ensuring that all operational readiness requirements are met.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) Process requirements, timelines, and resources.
Ensure the readiness of equipment, tools, and materials for the smooth launch of E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) operations.
Identify, trial, and implement any new tools, equipment and processes that could improve safety, quality and production efficiency
Develop and implement training programs for production teams
Conduct real-time inspections of components like stators, rotors, windings, cooling systems, and connectors.
E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) Quality Assurance and Process Quality Control:
Responsible for the integration of quality checks within the E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) process to ensure compliance with quality standards and prevent defects.
Direct responsibility of achieving quality targets including the development of quality control plans, quality checks and statistical process control (SPC) that supports variability reduction and prevent internal costumer impacts.
Implement process controls to monitor and maintain consistency in e-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) product quality, emphasizing the use of automated/digital systems and error-proofing tools.
Work closely with the quality teams to establish and refine e-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit)-related specifications and guidelines to ensure consistency across production.
Ensure that quality control standards are adhered to in E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) processes, collaborating closely with the production and Quality department to drive continuous improvement tools.
Implement corrective actions based on quality audits, PFMEA analysis, and other relevant data to improve product quality and production efficiency.
Lead and coordinate quality problems by implementing permanent solutions.
Monitor in-line testing (e.g., BMS functionality, thermal runaway safeguards).
Assist in EOL (End-of-Line) test validation for assembled battery packs or Drive Units
Use diagnostic tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, thermal cameras, or CAN analyzers) to verify signals and thermal behavior.
PFMEA and Risk Management:
Apply Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify potential risks in the E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) processes and develop mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with the production, manufacturing engineering and quality teams to implement corrective actions based on PFMEA findings, minimizing the risk of process failures and enhancing product quality.
Lead efforts to continuously improve risk management practices and process reliability throughout the E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) Process.
Launch Operation Preparation:
Develop and manage detailed project plans for E-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) launch including task allocation, resource planning, and risk management.
Ensure the integration of new equipment, coordinating with manufacturing engineering, quality, and logistics teams.
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to ensure smooth launch execution and operational success.
Define critical quality checkpoints in rotor/stator lamination stacking, hairpin insertion, or impregnation processes.
Implement SPC for key parameters (e.g., torque output, electrical resistance, NVH characteristics).
Conduct PFMEAs (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to mitigate risks during in-process steps.
Lead root cause analysis and CAPA implementation for non-conformities.
Quality Assurance Specialist – e-Powertrain
Audit manufacturing lines for compliance with automotive standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 26262 for functional safety).
Ensure in-process documents (control plans, work instructions, inspection records) are up to date.
Oversee software and firmware update verification (especially for inverters and BMS).
Manage traceability systems, ensuring serial numbers and lot codes are captured through MES/ERP.
Conduct layered process audits (LPAs) to verify adherence to quality gates.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Monitor process progress and key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring alignment with the overall e-Powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit) process strategy and production goals.
Report on productivity status, quality performance, and potential risks to senior management, providing insights into necessary actions for success.
Develop and maintain reporting mechanisms for product performance, budget adherence, and resource utilization.
Ensure operators follow JIS (Just-in-Sequence) and JIT (Just-in-Time) principles with built-in quality.
Facilitate quick response to quality alerts, e.g., red bin or Andon triggers.
Verify that poka-yoke systems (error-proofing) are functioning correctly.
Support operator training on critical quality tasks (e.g., torque settings, ESD-safe handling).
Problem Resolution and Continuous Improvement:
Address challenges during the production/launch phase, ensuring timely resolution with minimal impact on production timelines.
Participate in root cause analysis teams and problem-solving activities, focusing on productivity, process improvements, and quality control measures.
Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce and avoid all different type of waste and drive to a more efficient processes
