SUMMARY:

Our client is a successful manufacturer of original equipment for manufacturing, and the successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical controls design and development of products and systems. As a member of the engineering team, the controls designer is responsible for control systems design, specification, programming, simulation, testing, and start-up assistance for specific projects, ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals. REQUIREMENTS – Electrical Controls Design Engineer

  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar position in automation in automotive or other manufacturing.
  • College-Level Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent
  • Understanding of all aspects related to a variety of automotive manufacturing methods.
  • Good understanding of the production environment, good analytical and math skills
  • Design and layout, bill of materials, and wiring schematic capabilities.
  • Proven experience in PLC logic and programming with PLC's
  • Proficiency with electrical circuits and functions
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team setting and ask for the expertise of others when needed.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and maintaining timing deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES – Electrical Controls Design Engineer

  • Design and develop electrical schematics and control systems within SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Responsible for being part of the quote team, programming structure, and process flow.
  • Develop, install, and teach all PLC programming as required.
  • Identify and research electrical components for the project to ensure they meet requirements.
  • Build projects as designed.
  • Maintain and modify existing systems.
  • Work collaboratively with internal staff to ensure the success of all projects.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and relevant authorities.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Communicate with suppliers to discuss component specifications, pricing, and lead time.
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards of the country in which work is undertaken.
  • Ensure company machinery guidelines are followed.
  • Work in conjunction with manufacturing to review designs, confirming accuracy and identifying ways to optimize the system.
  • Accept responsibility and a level of accountability proportionate to the seniority of the position.
  • Perform other duties as required from time to time by your manager.
