Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have over 4 years of recent experience in supporting a variety of industrial projects throughout Southern California.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage power distribution projects to successful, on-time, and code-compliant completion.
  • Serve as the primary technical and client-facing representative for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with consultants, internal teams, and subcontractors as required.
  • Perform electrical planning, design, analysis, and construction support, including preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, studies, and reports.
  • Support construction activities by responding to RFIs, reviewing equipment submittals, and addressing field conditions or design modifications.
  • Design electrical systems including power distribution, communications, controls, instrumentation, lighting, security, fire alarm, SCADA, and data systems.
  • Execute designs for low- and medium-voltage systems, overhead-to-underground conversions, PV systems, generators, pump stations, EV chargers, switching stations, BESS, and microgrids.
  • Perform engineering calculations such as load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, voltage drop, and grounding.
  • Review and approve electrical shop drawings and product data.
  • Conduct site visits, field surveys, inspections, and develop punch lists.
  • Apply working knowledge of NEC/CEC, NFPA, and energy standards such as Title 24 and LEED.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • EIT, FE Exam pass required within the probationary period.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience with an MEP engineering firm.
  • Experience across electrical repair, new construction, rehabilitation, and utility installations.
  • Proficient with engineering and design software including AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, SKM Power Tools, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and lighting calculation software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • California Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience with medium- and low-voltage power distribution, motor protection, and industrial/process controls.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents such as floor plans, sections, elevations, risers, schedules, details, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Work Environment

The position is located in our San Diego, CA office with a hybrid work schedule, allowing remote work on Wednesdays and Fridays. Full remote work is not allowed. The role may require occasional job or project site visits. The work environment offers a competitive salary and benefits, growth opportunities, and a challenging and engaging work atmosphere. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
