I am developing a portable hardware device and need an experienced electrical engineer to help optimize a custom lithium-ion battery pack and resolve some integration behaviors with our main PCBA.
We have existing prototypes, custom battery packs, and a main board, but we are experiencing a protection issue during short circuit testing scenarios. I need an expert to review our hardware logic, BMS parameters, and current draw characteristics to ensure the main board and battery communicate and protect each other correctly under load. The PCB design is final and off-limits for modifications. I need an expert to analyze an existing, fully-functional battery pack to determine exactly why it works, then either replicate its specs or engineer one that handles the same load more reliably.
Key Responsibilities:
Review the specifications of our custom lithium-ion battery packs (internal resistance, cell discharge curves, etc.).
Analyze the interaction between the battery's BMS and the main board's overcurrent protection logic.
Troubleshoot and advise on scenarios where sudden voltage sag or high-resistance shorts cause the battery BMS to trip prematurely.
Recommend specific adjustments for BMS thresholds to ensure proper coordination with the main device.
Required Skills:
Electrical / Electronics Engineering
Lithium-ion Battery Management Systems (BMS)
PCBA Power Delivery & Circuit Protection
Hardware troubleshooting and system integration
Familiarity with interpreting oscilloscope data and voltage drop analysis
To Apply, Please Answer the Following:
Briefly describe how you would approach troubleshooting a scenario where a custom battery pack's BMS trips before the main device's built-in short-circuit protection during a simulated fault.
