Electrical Engineer III - Data Centers, Heavy C&I and Power & Lighting Design

Location: Kansas, Wisconsin or neighbouring states (remote)

Travel: 5–10%

A well-established construction and engineering business is seeking an Electrical Engineer III to support electrical power, lighting, and low-voltage design activities across a range of construction projects. Working under the direction of an Engineering Team Leader, the successful candidate will contribute to project design, field support, technical coordination, and engineering documentation.

This role is suited to an experienced electrical engineer who can work independently on complex tasks while also supporting junior team members and contributing to project delivery across multiple disciplines.

Role Overview The Electrical Engineer III will be responsible for producing and reviewing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and field-based assessments to support construction projects. The role requires strong technical capability, practical knowledge of electrical systems, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed calculations and develop construction standards and specifications.
  • Review technical drawings and electrical specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Plan layouts for electrical construction projects.
  • Conduct field surveys and review diagrams, reports, and related data to identify and resolve power system issues.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding active and potential construction projects.
  • Provide guidance to ensure construction activities align with specifications, codes, and customer expectations.
  • Inspect completed installations to verify conformance with design intent and equipment specifications.
  • Compile data and prepare reports related to engineering studies and project activity.
  • Use computer-aided engineering and design software to perform technical tasks.
  • Deliver electrical engineering support on complex projects with minimal oversight.
  • Participate in customer and project interviews as needed.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and designers on project-specific tasks.
  • Provide training to technical personnel in areas of expertise.

Minimum Requirements

Option 1

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • 5 years of progressive electrical engineering experience.

Option 2

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology.
  • 9 years of progressive electrical engineering experience.

Required Skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
  • AutoCAD and Revit knowledge required.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to operate computer-assisted engineering and design tools.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced project environment.

Working Conditions

  • Typical work hours are Monday to Friday.
  • Work may be required outside normal hours, including evenings or weekends, based on business needs.
  • Some travel may be required (5-10%).
