Swift Current Energy, a renewable energy project developer, owner, and operator (“Swift Current” or the “Company”) is seeking a Manager of Electrical Engineering to act as an internal subject matter expert regarding electrical power generating systems. The Company has primary offices in Boston MA, Houston TX, and Yarmouth ME; this role is ideally based in the Houston office, with periodic travel to project sites and Company offices as required. Job Scope:
The primary responsibilities of the Manager, Electrical Engineering include the following:
- Work on engineering, designing & construction of high voltage and medium voltage substations and equipment, including HV gen-ties and MV collector systems for various renewable energy generation technologies and data centers.
- Work with the development, pre-construction and transmission teams in the early stages of the project to perform high-level evaluation of projects including substation single-line designs and equipment sizing, etc.
- Support Development and Interconnection teams in the review of interconnection applications and support technical submittals in to ensure the HV/MV preliminary design meets RTUs/utilities requirements.
- Work with local utilities to ensure grid code compliance and coordinate on various tests and project milestones necessary to bring the project online.
- Specify, evaluate, and size MPT/GSU and other major equipment and work with procurement to execute Energy Supply Agreements (ESA) and place orders based on project needs and equipment lead times.
- Review and track the standards and specifications of the interconnection transmission owner for each project and develop and maintain standards and scope of work for high voltage equipment and EPC contracting.
- Review reactive power compensation studies, ampacity studies, short circuit current studies, power flow, and other relevant studies.
- Develop and review relay protection settings.
- Manage outside engineering firms and utilities on design and project-specific requirements, ensuring we meet deadlines and project milestones
- Review EPC’s design submittals and provide timely responses and guidance as necessary.
- Manage third party engineering consultants, Independent Engineers, and other related parties in support of project schedules, risk mitigation, and budgets.
- Support the Project Execution team during construction and commissioning phases to ensure project execution aligns with the engineering requirements defined in the Scope of Work and Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings.
- Manage and oversee engineering deliverables across all design stages, providing technical guidance, reviews, and consolidated comments to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
- Support the Owner’s Engineer (OE) and Independent Engineer (IE) throughout various project phases by addressing technical inquiries, coordinating engineering responses, and facilitating design alignment.
- Support the Development team in the technical sizing and optimization of solar PV, BESS, and wind projects using industry-standard engineering software, modeling tools, and analytical methods.
- Develop preliminary (10%) engineering designs for solar, BESS, and wind projects and provide ongoing engineering support during early-stage project development and feasibility assessments.
- Other duties assigned as required to support ongoing needs of the team and organizational goals.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in HV and MV engineering, design, and commissioning for utility-scale renewable power plants
