Electrical Engineer - Natural Gas Extraction job at Ultimate Staffing. Cerritos, CA.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of and enhance the design, efficiency, and durability of the primary power delivery system, encompassing VFD, motor, cabling, transformer, and supervisory control system.
  • Take ownership of and optimize the design, performance, and durability of ancillary equipment, including remote data communication and storage, cooling cart, controls container (mechanical definition), 120V power supply transformer, HVAC, etc.
  • Assist the team in developing new products or enhancing existing ones.
  • Collaborate with experts to validate electrical system designs for current and future products.
  • Provide training and support to production and field teams regarding product assembly and connection processes.
  • Document electrical system configurations, user guides, and procedures.
  • Develop and document test setups and procedures.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to optimize power electronics and motor designs.
  • Establish and advocate for electrical safety best practices within the company.
  • Maintain a secure working environment for oneself and colleagues.
  • Occasionally provide field service support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience, with at least 3 years in power electronics integration, motion control, turbomachinery, or similar.
  • Proven hands-on expertise in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting complex electrical systems.
  • Preferably, experience in power electronics troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with ladder logic PLCs and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus) is advantageous.
  • Experience in designing digital, analog, and power electronic circuits is a plus.
  • Knowledge of motor controls is beneficial.
  • Proficient in using and setting up test equipment such as oscilloscopes, data loggers/analyzers, and software development tools.
  • Familiarity with safety requirements for high-power applications.
  • Knowledge of the agency approval process (UL, CE, etc.) is advantageous.
  • Understanding of digital, analog, and power electronics components and operations.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in complex electrical systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
