Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) is seeking an Associate Principal or Principal Electrical Engineer to be an integral part of expanding our electrical engineering practice, based in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

Project scopes range from new design and system specification to in-situ evaluation and problem solving to forensic investigation and litigation support.
Responsibilities
- Technical project execution: focus on power and control systems design, diagnostics, and troubleshooting, from initiation through closeout; expertise in automation, control, and power systems; hands‑on electrical fieldwork; designing new systems and upgrades; managing client expectations and deliverables.
- Day-to-day success of multiple concurrent projects: act as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project teams; collaborate as electrical SME; review work; secure project documents as Engineer of Record.
- Mentorship: exemplify culture of sharing knowledge to better the team locally and company‑wide, formally and informally, on‑and‑off projects, for technical topics and career development.
- Contributions to engineering practice and company objectives: foster client relationships inside and outside WJE; attract, develop, and engage consultants; collaborate for in‑house knowledge sharing; participate in industry organizations, conferences, and committees.
Qualifications
- Licensed Electrical Engineer or ability to obtain within the first year.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical, power, controls, or systems engineering or related field.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience with expertise in control and power systems, design and specification of new systems, in‑situ evaluation, forensic investigation, and litigation support.
- Control and power systems (motor and drive engineering, PLC and distributed control, power distribution).
- Design and specification of new systems.
- In‑situ evaluation and problem solving for existing systems.
- Forensic investigation and litigation support.
- Dedicated self‑starter, motivated to contribute to growth of expanding consulting practice.
- Excellent technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform essential functions. This position requires visual acuity and listening ability. Individuals must have dexterity to use computers, printers, copiers, telephones, voicemail, and other office and field equipment.
While not a dedicated on‑site position, projects often require field presence. Requirements may include:
- Ability to travel and attend meetings at office, field, and construction sites.
- Ability to safely use and/or operate ladders, scaffolds, lifts, or other equipment to access control rooms, electrical systems, and other work areas.
- Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment for field mobilization.
- Ability to safely work at heights, in confined spaces, and in hazardous locations, including outdoors with temperature extremes.
- Medically fit to use respiratory protection devices and other PPE.
- Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Authorization to work and travel throughout the United States without restrictions.
