Boston Dynamic's Spot Electrical Engineering Team is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to continually advance our cutting edge quadruped mobile robot platform. In this role, you'll perform a mix of electrical system prototyping, from scratch circuit board/system design, design iteration, and support. The ideal candidate will possess a broad electrical engineering background, be experienced in new product development, and enjoy being challenged by a dynamic set of projects. How you will make an impact:Contribute to new product development within the Spot ecosystemDevelop (document, design, simulate, test, support) digital, power, and/or mixed signal circuit boardsOversee printed circuit board (PCB) CAD layout and routingTriage, troubleshoot, and diagnose robot electrical failures to root causeAuthor technical documentation such as specifications, schematics, test plans, and reportsLead development of robot subsystems from concept through volume manufacturing, as requiredCollaborate with engineering, operations, manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and test teamsLead and participate in design reviewsAuthor Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)Contribute to continuous improvement activities such as authoring process documentationWe are looking for:At least a BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, robotics, or closely related field5+ years of directly related work experienceStrong electrical engineering fundamentals spanning a range of competencies (e.g. digital, power, analog, RF)Embedded computing and/or robotics systems knowledgeDemonstrated ability to debug to root cause complex electrical issuesExperience with schematic capture and eCAD software (Altium preferred)Familiarity with PLM software (e.g. Arena)Basic Linux skillsNice to have:Knowledge of functional safety concepts and how they apply to roboticsExperience simulating high-speed serial data links (e.g. PCIe, 10GigE, etc.)Software/firmware development skills in C/C++, Python, Verilog/VHDL, and/or LabViewWe are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas for this position.The pay range for this position is between $90,0000 to $160,000 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
