Jacobs is on the lookout for a talented and experienced Construction Site Manager to lead the electrical, instrumentation, and controls trades in the construction of large-scale thermal power generation facilities. This pivotal role ensures the installation of electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, and control systems meets the highest standards of safety, compliance, and quality. Under the guidance of the Construction Project Director, you will not only manage subcontractors and coordinate field execution but also drive alignment with project safety, schedule, and performance objectives. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily operations for electrical, instrumentation, and controls installation including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, cable trays, and control panels.
- Oversee the testing and installation of power distribution systems, protective relays, instrumentation loops, DCS/PLC systems, and plant automation.
- Coordinate subcontractor work plans, sequencing, and ensure material availability to keep projects on schedule.
- Ensure work complies with project specifications, electrical codes, and industry standards like NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and ISA.
- Conduct thorough field inspections to confirm correct installation of electrical equipment, cable routing, terminations, and instrument calibration.
- Support the development and execution of comprehensive electrical testing plans including megger testing, relay testing, loop checks, and functional testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve engineering issues, RFIs, and technical challenges in collaboration with engineering and project leaders.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety through rigorous oversight including LOTO procedures and electrical hazard mitigations.
- Monitor progress closely, provide schedule updates, and deliver accurate reporting on productivity and field risks.
- Collaborate with commissioning teams for system energization, control testing, and turnover documentation.
Location: Greenville, South Carolina preferred, but we are open to considering any Jacobs office location nationwide.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of electrical and controls construction management experience within industrial or power generation projects.
- Deep understanding of thermal power plant electrical systems, instrumentation, and control architectures.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, wiring diagrams, loop sheets, and control logic documentation effectively.
- Proven experience in managing electrical subcontractors and coordinating multi-discipline activities on site.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical safety practices, testing procedures, and relevant codes and standards.
