Special Mentions:

This position is part of Blue Origin's TeraWave business unit, a newly announced satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. TeraWave consists of 5,408 optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop, and optimize spacecraft electrical systems with specific focus on harness design, connector selection, and general input/output interfaces for the TeraWave satellite constellation
  • Create and maintain detailed electrical system documentation including wiring diagrams, interface control documents, and test procedures
  • Develop and implement electrical harness designs that meet stringent space-grade requirements for reliability, thermal management, and EMI/EMC compatibility
  • Select appropriate connectors and interconnect solutions that can withstand the harsh space environment while maintaining signal integrity
  • Perform electrical analyses including Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA), part stress analysis, signal integrity, and power integrity
  • Conduct Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) for electrical systems and components
  • Provide general electrical systems design support to other subsystems including avionics power, thermal, communications, and payload teams
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure electrical system compatibility and integration
  • Develop test plans and procedures to verify electrical system performance and compliance with requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues during integration and testing phases
  • Maintain awareness of industry standards and best practices for spacecraft electrical systems
  • Contribute to technical reviews and design milestone presentations
  • Support supplier management for electrical components and harness fabrication

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 2 years specifically in spacecraft or satellite electrical systems
  • Demonstrated experience with spacecraft electrical harness design, connector selection, and general input/output interfaces
  • Proficiency in electrical analysis techniques and familiarity with industry standards for space applications (NASA-STD-8739.4A, IPC/WHMA-A-620 Space Addendum)
  • Experience with electrical CAD tools and documentation systems
  • Strong understanding of EMI/EMC principles and design practices for space applications
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in spacecraft electrical systems design
  • Direct experience with high-speed data transmission systems and optical communications
  • Knowledge of space-grade materials and components for electrical systems
  • Experience with satellite constellation design and operations
  • Familiarity with New Glenn launch vehicle interfaces and requirements
  • Experience with ECSS or NASA electrical standards and compliance
  • Background in system-level and circuit-level modeling and simulation
  • Experience with power distribution systems for spacecraft
  • Knowledge of radiation effects on electrical components and mitigation techniques

Why Blue Origin:

At Blue Origin, we're not just building the future of space exploration-we're revolutionizing global connectivity through our TeraWave satellite network. As a Satellite Electrical Systems Engineer II, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the Electrical Systems integrity and performance of our constellation of 5,408 satellites designed to deliver unmatched speeds up to 6 Tbps with symmetrical upload and download capabilities. Join us in our mission to provide enterprise-grade connectivity to locations unreachable by traditional methods, enabling critical operations for enterprise, data center, and government customers worldwide.

Join our team and be part of building a space-based network designed for tomorrow, where your expertise will directly contribute to creating a system that provides connectivity anywhere on Earth.
