Job Description

Title: Field Service Technician – Electrical Testing

Location: Dallas, TX (Occasional travel to customer sites required)

Salary: $40-$75/Hour (Overtime Eligible)

Duration: Permanent

Requirements:

  • 3-7+ years of experience in electrical testing and power system services
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams in the field
  • Hands-on experience performing low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical testing, including:
  • Circuit breakers
  • Switchgear and switchboards
  • Motor control centers (MCCs)
  • Transformers (CTs/PTs)
  • Cables, grounding systems, motors, and protective devices
  • Proficiency with industry-standard electrical test equipment, including:
  • Primary/secondary injection
  • Hipot/VLF and insulation resistance testing
  • DLRO, power factor, turns ratio, winding resistance
  • Equipment from Megger, AEMC, Doble, Omicron, Vanguard, Raytech, FLIR, Fluke, and HVA

Plusses:

  • NETA III or IV certification (or NICET equivalent)
  • Familiarity with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Technician – Electrical Testing to lead and execute complex electrical testing, maintenance, and commissioning activities across customer sites. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with field leadership, project coordination, and client interaction, serving as both a technical authority and a mentor to junior staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, commission, and collect performance data on electrical systems
  • Maintain, test, repair, rebuild, and replace low-, medium-, and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
  • Test, inspect, and troubleshoot low-, medium-, and high-voltage cable installations
  • Maintain, test, and repair transformers and associated electrical equipment
  • Test and calibrate solid-state and electromechanical protective relays, including power metering
  • Perform low- and medium-voltage MCC and contactor testing
  • Start up, troubleshoot, and repair generator controls and transfer schemes
  • Troubleshoot and service automatic transfer switches (ATS)
  • Test and commission protection and control systems for high-voltage substations
  • Perform insulating fluid sampling and analyze test results
