Electronics Design Team Leader (Power Electronics / FPGA)
Location: London (Hybrid) - Salary: Up to £75,000 + Car Allow. + Bonus + Ex. Bens – Perm

The Role
This is a dual technical and people leadership role (approx. 60/40 split), where you'll:
- Lead the design and development of low-voltage electronic subsystems within advanced power equipment
- Take full ownership of the hardware development lifecycle – from concept through to validation and production
- Provide hands-on technical direction across power electronics, analogue/digital design, and FPGA development
- Line manage and develop a team (~5 engineers), including:
- Performance management and reviews
- Coaching, mentoring, and career development
- Resource planning and team growth
- Drive engineering best practice, ensuring compliance with standards such as ISO9001 and IEC safety requirements
- Work cross-functionally with teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain
What We're Looking For
You'll bring a strong mix of technical expertise and proven people management experience:
Technical Experience
- Solid background in power electronics and complex hardware design
- Experience with FPGA or CPLD design (VHDL or Verilog) – ideally using Altera or Xilinx
- Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics, PCB design, and system-level integration
- Experience across the full hardware development lifecycle in a regulated environment
- Familiarity with Altium Designer (Zuken experience is a plus)
Leadership & Management
- Proven line management experience (not just project or technical leadership)
- Demonstrated ability to manage performance, develop individuals, and build effective teams
- Experience leading teams of at least 2–3 engineers, with accountability for delivery and people development
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across multiple stakeholders
