Overview
Engineering Partners (EPI) is a San Diego-based engineering firm supporting utility, municipal, and government clients with electrical and power infrastructure projects.
We are seeking an experienced Engineer II with a strong foundation in utility distribution design and hands-on experience with PLS-CADD for design and drafting. This role will support complex projects involving overhead and underground systems, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable designs.
Responsibilities
- Lead remediation projects using PLS-CADD and PLS Pole to address complex issues identified through drone inspections, including pole and conductor replacement QA/QC
- Analyze LiDAR data, intrusive records, and drone imagery to diagnose and resolve advanced engineering issues in both office and field environments
- Manage multiple remediation projects concurrently, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables
- Develop and improve processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in project execution
- Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior engineers; share best practices and technical insights
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (field engineers, designers, project managers) to ensure seamless project integration
- Proactively identify and implement new ideas, tools, and processes to improve current workflows
- Adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment with a solutions-oriented, entrepreneurial mindset
- Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) from engineering and construction teams to maintain project timelines
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience using PLS-CADD
- Experience with electric utility pole design and modeling
- Knowledge of utility pole construction methods and equipment
- Proficiency with PLS Pole software
- Experience analyzing LiDAR data and drone imagery
- Knowledge of utility pole design standards and construction standards
- Understanding of electric utility distribution systems
- Experience managing or leading utility engineering projects
- Experience mentoring or training junior engineering staff
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional engineering teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced experience with PLS-CADD and PLS Pole beyond minimum requirements
- Experience working on remediation or QA/QC-focused utility projects
- Field experience supporting utility construction or inspections
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes or implement operational efficiencies
- Strong communication skills with experience interfacing with clients and stakeholders
Compensation
Anticipated Base Salary Range: $89,814 to $135,000/yr
Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and prevailing market conditions.
