What The Role Is
We are seeking an experienced Engineer / Lead Engineer to join our AI team, where you will play a key role in shaping and executing both our AI strategic initiatives and AI governance framework. As part of a dynamic cross-functional environment, you will contribute to the development of our AI masterplan while ensuring responsible, secure, and ethical AI adoption across the organisation.
What You Will Be Working On
- Contribute to and support execution of the organisation’s AI masterplan and implementation roadmaps, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and insights to track AI adoption, performance, governance outcomes, organisational AI maturity and provide regular updates to leadership.
- Support annual work planning by collaborating with cross-functional steams such as Solutioning, R&D, Product Development, Platforms, Data Engineering and Infrastructure to coordinate efforts and resource to ensure effective delivery.
- Perform strategic foresight and research to identify emerging AI trends, risks, and opportunities, and inform governance enhancements and innovation efforts, to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Home Team.
- Contribute to the development of the AI Governance strategy which outlines the objectives and guidelines for responsible AI development, deployment, and usage.
- The AI Governance strategy should cover risks and challenges associated with AI such as explainability, fairness, privacy, security, accountability, transparency, ethics, robustness, reliability, sustainability etc., while aligning with organizational values and principles.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to influence considerations of AI-related risks from throughout the entire product development lifecycle and deployment decisions.
- Establish metrics, KPIs, and monitoring frameworks to track AI governance effectiveness, system performance, and overall organisational AI maturity.
- Continuously review and enhance AI governance frameworks, policies, and programmes to ensure ongoing relevance, effectiveness, and operational impact.
What We Are Looking For
- Postgraduate / Tertiary qualification in computer science, engineering, information systems or other quantitative/ analytical fields
- Min 5 years’ experience and proven track records in strategic planning, digital transformation or governance frameworks, risk and compliance and proven track records
- Strong interest in technologies and innovation with experience or knowledge of AI/ML, Data Science and Data Analytics
- Experience with financial management and budgeting
- Experience with governance framework, risk and compliance in the AI safety domain to continuously review the AI governance strategy and playbook, update regularly to ensure ongoing relevance and effectiveness
- Knowledge of emerging AI technologies and trends
- Experience in leading and collaborating with multi-agencies teams
- Good facilitation skills, extensive organising capabilities and strategic foresight
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in MS Powerpoint and Excel
- Self-motivated, team player, creative with excellent communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
- Having domain knowledge in Homeland Security sector will be an added bonus
All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
