Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned senior Risk professional to join our Group Risk function. You will be responsible for making credit onboarding decisions in alignment to the Company’s Group Risk Framework, Policies and Procedures. The role will require extensive knowledge of structured financing and asset backed financing, preferably with exposure to project financing and leveraged financing structures. While the role will involve credit assessment and approvals, direct and detailed involvement will be needed in due diligence, structuring, approval of credit reviews and general portfolio monitoring in the near term. The individual will also be exposed to other aspects of risk across the group, including market risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, reputational risk, ESG, risk frameworks and risk policies, as well as portfolio analytics.

This role reports to the Group Chief Risk Officer (“GCRO”). The key responsibilities include:

  • Review and evaluate new credit proposals and provide a clear recommendation to the Group Credit Committee.
  • Review and provide clearance on documentation to deal principals, ensuring the terms are in line with credit approvals.
  • Maintain transparent and consistent messaging regarding risk appetite to all internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure the Group’s environmental, social and governance standards and policies are adhered to and that the portfolio is monitored for any ESG incidents.
  • Make decisions on reviews and modifications in relation to the existing credit portfolio.
  • Ensure accurate reporting & analysis of the portfolio and escalate any issues to senior management.
  • Monitor the existing credit portfolio with the portfolio team to proactively identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in miscellaneous internal projects which would include: portfolio stress testing, (re)development of PD/ECL models and other credit/climate risk tools, and process maps.

Knowledge/ Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree with at least 10-15 years of experience.
  • Prior experience in Project/Structured finance credit.
  • Solid track record of credit decision making.
  • Possess a mindset of questioning and validating information. Ability to present clear, reasoned views and defend such views, while being open to the views of others.
  • Ability to provide input on due diligence and structuring, as well as ability to be hands on with credit reviews and other aspects of portfolio management with some assistance from junior resources.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Highly organised, motivated and strong prioritisation capabilities with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
