Expert Risk Analyst
Company Overview:
This team plays a critical role in evaluating operational risks and supporting regulatory reporting and investment planning for key electric infrastructure programs. The team executes a structured risk decision framework that enables data-driven decision making and continuous improvement. By working closely with electric operations, engineering, and asset strategy teams, ERM identifies and evaluates existing and emerging risks, prioritizes mitigation strategies, monitors key performance and risk indicators, and supports major regulatory filings and investment planning initiatives.
Role and Responsibilities of Expert Risk Analyst:
You will collaborate with asset owners, compliance teams, and subject matter experts to implement and enhance a comprehensive risk management framework. This role focuses on evaluating emerging operational risks, facilitating risk indicator development, and supporting data-driven decision making to improve infrastructure reliability and safety.
- Develop strong working relationships with asset strategy, engineering, wildfire mitigation, regulatory, and compliance teams.
- Collaborate with asset family owners and compliance teams to evaluate existing and emerging operational risks.
- Support horizon scanning initiatives by identifying and assessing new risk factors affecting electric operations.
- Facilitate discussions with subject matter experts and risk teams to improve or develop key risk indicators (KRIs).
- Assist in data collection and analysis for risk evaluation and mitigation planning initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of risk presentations and reporting materials for leadership and oversight groups.
- Support regulatory data requests, governance reporting, and strategic planning documentation.
- Assist with risk analysis and reporting related to major operational programs and safety initiatives.
- Participate in cross-functional collaboration to strengthen the organization’s risk-based decision framework.
Required Skills and Experience of Expert Risk Analyst:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Seven years of experience in risk management, utility operations, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to interpret complex operational risks and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in electric utility operations, asset management, or infrastructure strategy.
- Background in risk management frameworks or operational risk analysis.
- Ability to synthesize complex technical and regulatory topics into clear, understandable concepts.
- Experience working across multiple departments to support cross-functional initiatives.
- Ability to influence decision-making and facilitate collaboration among technical subject matter experts.
- Experience supporting regulatory filings or compliance reporting processes.
Compensation and Benefits of Expert Risk Analyst:
- Salary range: $122,000 – $194,000.
- Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
- Eligible employees may participate in incentive compensation programs.
