Job Description

Please note: This posting is for a 12-month Student placement with a start date of September 2026 and end-date of August 2027. In order to be eligible for this 12-month Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of August 2027; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in August 2026), but you require the full work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

What is the opportunity?

You will work as part of the RBC Personal Banking's Savings & Investments Analytics team. You will help to drive acquisition and retention in the Savings & Investments Analytics area. You will support data efforts to identify trends and opportunities to improve the support RBC employees can offer to clients to help them realize their investment goals.

You will have access to world class experts in investing, and the data & analytics teams that drive their strategies. You will be guided and coached by a senior leader within Savings & Investments Analytics and will play a pivotal role in supporting data-driven business decisions by identifying, understanding, organizing, and presenting data trends.

What will you do?

We’re looking for people that have a mix of strong analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills, communicate well and are able to work through complex and ambiguous challenges. You need to be a self-driven and hyper engaged individual that’s willing to learn finance and data analytics from world class teams in a fast paced and challenging environment. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Leverage database querying, data manipulation, and predictive analytic techniques to execute on opportunities to improve mutual fund leads distribution
  • Create new tools and capabilities and think of creative ways to improve current functionality to increase automation and interconnections to our data utilizing next generation technology
  • Provide analytical support on ad hoc requests originating from various stakeholders
  • Participate in specialized strategic projects
  • Create/maintain concise and well thought out reports for senior leadership
  • Foster an environment of engagement by participating in internal RBC or external events

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree/combination of experience that demonstrates mastery of math, computer science, data analytics, or complex problem solving
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven, self-sufficient, able to understand new information and concepts quickly, and capable of working in a fast paced environment
  • Passion for finance and investing and generally striving to learn new things and develop skillsets
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – able to effectively work in a team environment
  • You teach and learn from your teammates and truly value making others successful.

Nice-to-have

  • Proficiency in programming and/or database programs (e.g. SAS, SQL, MS Access, R, Python) and other software such as Tableau, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of and experience in the investment industry
  • Equally effective and conversant in business and technical environments
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional environment
