Job Title: Field Service Controls Engineer

Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire

Travel: 60% required

Candidate can live anywhere on the west coast or mountain states region (CO, ID, UT, CA, OR, WA, NV).

Position Overview

We are seeking a Field Service Controls Engineer to support automation and integration projects from programming through commissioning and ongoing customer support. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working in the field, solving complex problems, and interacting directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and implement PLC and HMI-based control systems from the ground up
  • Perform on-site commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of automated systems
  • Support integration of control systems within manufacturing and process environments
  • Work with platforms such as Allen-Bradley (Rockwell), Siemens, and related technologies
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams and customers to ensure successful project delivery
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to controls, instrumentation, and industrial networks
  • Provide technical support, system optimization, and training to end users
  • Maintain accurate documentation including system configurations and updates

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in controls engineering, automation, or system integration
  • Proven ability to program PLCs from scratch and develop HMI applications
  • Experience in manufacturing or process control environments
  • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell and/or Siemens platforms
  • Exposure to robotics and advanced automation systems is a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and client-facing abilities
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%
