An international industrial machinery manufacturer in the Elk Grove Village, IL area is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their Engineering & Maintenance Team. This position is responsible for the onsite installation and troubleshooting of industrial CNC machinery at customer locations.
The ideal candidate will have experience with mechanical/electrical systems troubleshooting, knowledge of blueprint/schematic reading, and be comfortable traveling frequently for business, including occasional overnight travel.
Responsibilities of a Field Service Engineer include:
- Travel to customer sites to troubleshoot machinery malfunctions/suboptimal performance, install and integrate machinery into existing factory operations, and/or supervise the repair/maintenance of subcontractors and/or customers’ internal staff
- Train internal staff and client staff on machinery operations, installation, etc.
- Respond to client inquiries over phone and email when emergency issues arise
- Oversee project management processes and perform machinery inspections
- Prepare quotations for onsite engineering service to customers
- Prepare service records/post-job reports for internal recordkeeping
- Maintain customer relationships and offer additional at-cost services/product solutions as needed
- Additional duties as assigned by manager
Requirements of Field Service Engineer include:
- Minimum of Associate’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience
- At least 3 years of field service/frequent business travel experience
- At least 3 years of industrial machine maintenance/mechanical maintenance experience
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Experience with PLC programming and electrical systems
- Ability to travel up to 50-75 percent of the time
- Must have valid driver’s license
- While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
