Field Service Engineer – Packaging / Converting Equipment

Salary: Up to £40,000 plus package incl company van, overtime, enhanced pension and private health

Field based with national travel

We’re working with a well-established and highly respected engineering business operating at the forefront of the print, packaging, and converting sectors, supplying specialist gluing, quality assurance, and inspection systems into high-speed production environments.

Their technology is used across folding carton, corrugated, and print finishing lines, helping manufacturers improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure consistent product quality.

Due to continued growth, they are now looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer to join their UK service team.

The Equipment

This is not just swapping parts; this is proper fault finding on integrated systems.

You’ll be working on:

  • Glue application systems (cold glue & hot melt)
  • Quality assurance & inspection systems (sensors, cameras, detection systems)
  • Controllers, PLC-based systems, and data monitoring equipment
  • Product rejection & tracking systems on high-speed lines

These systems are typically integrated onto machinery such as:

  • Folder gluers (e.g. Bobst, Vega, Jagenberg)
  • Flexo folder gluers (corrugated lines)
  • Tray forming machines & carton assembly lines
  • Bindery / print finishing equipment

You’ll also be exposed to partnered technologies including hot melt systems integrated into full production lines.

The Role

  • Installation, service, and repair of electromechanical systems on customer sites
  • Advanced fault finding across electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Working on high-speed automated production lines
  • Supporting commissioning, upgrades, and preventative maintenance
  • Delivering technical support and occasional operator training
  • Managing your own workload and parts in a field-based role

What Backgrounds Fit This Role

You don’t need to come directly from this OEM but you do need transferable experience.

Strong fits include engineers from:

  • Print finishing / packaging OEMs
  • (e.g. Bobst, Heidelberg, Muller Martini, Horizon, Kolbus, B&R Moll)
  • Folder gluer / converting environments

(Bobst, Vega, Jagenberg, Signature, etc.)

  • Corrugated / FMCG production lines

(especially flexo folder gluers or end-of-line automation)(conveyors, robotics, inspection systems, sensors)looking to step into the field

  • Industrial automation / special purpose machinery
  • Ex-maintenance engineers from packaging plants
  • Engineers with experience in:
  • Adhesive systems (hot melt / cold glue)
  • PLC fault finding
  • High-speed production / uptime-critical environments

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong electromechanical fault-finding ability
  • Experience in fast-paced production or OEM environments
  • Comfortable working autonomously and customer-facing
  • Electrical qualifications (ideal but not essential)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Someone who actually enjoys being hands-on and solving problems

What’s on Offer

  • Starting salary up to £40,000 depending on experience, rising with service
  • Company vehicle
  • Overtime
  • Private medical
  • Enhanced pension contribution
  • Ongoing training on specialist equipment

Long-term stability with a globally recognised specialist
