Field Service Technician III

Location: San Francisco, CA/Bay Area

Pay: $35–$40/hour

Schedule: Full-time + On-Call (Flexible Availability Required)

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician III to support installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems at customer sites throughout the San Francisco area. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for a technician who thrives in fast-paced environments, can troubleshoot at the component level, and is comfortable working independently while representing the company in front of clients.

This role requires flexibility, strong technical expertise, and the ability to respond to service calls within defined turnaround times.

Key Responsibilities

Install, set up, and commission equipment at field sites

Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair down to the component level

Work with printed circuit boards, wiring diagrams, and electronic schematics

Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions to ensure optimal system performance

Conduct testing, adjustments, and system calibrations

Maintain detailed service logs, maintenance records, and technical reports

Interface directly with customers during service calls and operational meetings

Partner with engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues

Perform site surveys and support system upgrades or modifications

Coordinate and support field projects, including working with subcontractors when needed

May serve as a lead technician on installations or long-term projects

Required Qualifications

3+ years of field service or electronics technician experience

Hands-on experience with printed circuit boards (PCB) and electrical systems

Experience working on or around ticket booth / fare collection systems is required

Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals

Proven troubleshooting skills at the component level (not just part replacement)

Ability to work independently in the field and manage service calls effectively

Strong communication and customer-facing skills

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Work Environment & Requirements

On-call role with flexible schedule required

Ability to respond to service calls within defined turnaround times

Work performed in field environments that may be noisy, fast-paced, or physically demanding

Ability to lift up to 70 lbs

Must be able to pass background and motor vehicle checks
