Job Description

Our client is looking for a Financial Analyst for a 6 month contract.

Location: 3 days in office located downtown Toronto

About the Opportunity

  • Collaborate with internal teams to monitor and consolidate capital project expenses into active project accounts within Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of procurement activities and project tracking tools; prepare journal entries for capital accruals as part of the regular month-end and fiscal year-end routines.
  • Work jointly with the Controllership team to finalize project accounting, transitioning completed projects from work-in-progress to fixed assets with appropriate asset segmentation.
  • Support regulatory and compliance reporting, including filings for Statistics Canada and obligations tied to government grants.
  • Assist in the development of monthly reporting presentations for leadership, providing insights on capital project expenditures and status.
  • Participate in the creation of the annual capital plan and provide updates for monthly financial forecasts.
  • Build familiarity with operational processes and objectives by taking initiative to learn and stay informed about ongoing business activities.
  • Contribute to audit preparations and tax-related documentation concerning capital assets.
  • Deliver customized reports and analyses, and lend support to priority projects and strategic initiatives as needed.

About You

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Professional designation such as CPA is preferred.
  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in a financial analysis or project accounting role.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel; hands-on experience with ERP systems, particularly Dynamics 365, and data tools such as Power BI is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Analytical thinker with a proactive attitude and a drive to improve processes and solve problems.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize shifting tasks.
  • Comfortable operating in an environment that is fast-paced and constantly evolving.
